Trailhead Lodge at Wildhorse Meadows in Steamboat is auctioning off 39 new condos on May 6th. Trailhead Lodge originally pre-sold 70% of the available condos only to have most of the buyers walk away when construction finished in the middle of the Great Recession. After a year or two of being offered for sale at prices too high for the current market, the remaining unsold condos at Trailhead Lodge were purchased by a Salt Lake company in Nov, 2011 for $28,000,000–a price most acknowledged was too high.
Fast forward to last week, when it was announced that 39 of the 56 unsold Trailhead Lodge condos were going to be auctioned off on May 6th. Click here to see some of the condos that will be auctioned. And remember, they won’t honor these prices on Auction Day. (Higher priced condos are re-sales and are not part of the May 6th event.)
If you are wondering what’s being auctioned…and what’s being held back by the current owners, here is a quick summary:
- All studios and one bedrooms are going to auction.
- There will be two 3BR auctioned. One is on the 3rd floor, one is on the 4th floor.
- Most of the auction condos are on the lower floors. (Of the 14 condos on the second floor, only one won’t be part of the auction.)
- The advertised price will NOT be accepted. The reserve/minimim bid prices are higher–and they are a highly guarded secret.
